W 2012 opublikowałem post, w którym opisałem jak wykonuję koła do moich kartonowych modeli. Jak widzę w statystykach, ten krótki i prosty poradnik jest najchętniej czytanym przez Was artykułem. Ostatnio zacząłem zamieszczać więcej materiałów video i postanowiłem zmontować materiał z procesu powstawania kół dla MiG-a-23. Na przestrzeni lat technika opisana we wspomnianym artykule ewoluowała, ale fundamenty pozostały te same. Dlatego tutaj, w artykule na blogu, skupię się tylko na opisaniu tego, co się zmieniło. Cała reszta, od początku do końca jest widoczna na filmie.

In 2012, I published a post in which I described how I make wheels for my cardboard models. As I can see in the statistics, this short and simple guide is the article you read most often. Recently I started posting more videos and decided to put together material from the making of the wheels for MiG-23. The technique described in that article has evolved over the years, but the basic assumptions remained the same. Therefore, here, in the article, I will only write here on what has changed. Everything else, from the very beginning to an end is visible in the video.

Na zdjęciu powyżej znajdują się dwa koła sklejone z krążków tektury grubości 1mm. Po lewej wyszlifowane na wkrętarce, po prawej przed szlifowaniem. Żeby móc obrobić je w ten sposób muszę wywiercić dość duży otwór w środku koła.

In the picture above, there are two circles glued together from cardboard discs 1mm thick. On the left, grinded on a screwdriver, on the right, before sanding. To be able to process them this way, I have to drill a fairly large hole in the centre of the circle.

W otwór wkładam trzpień przeznaczony do małej tarczy szlifierskiej. Takie narzędzie można zdobyć zakupując zestaw końcówek do szlifowania, czasem tego typu końcówki dodawane są do zestawów z wkrętarkami czy mini szlifierkami. Osadzam na nim koło i mocno dokręcam. Następnie montuję zestaw na wkrętarce i zaczynam obróbkę przy pomocy papierów ściernych i kleju cyjanoakrylowego (patrz film).

I put a pin intended for a small grinding wheel into the hole. You can get such a tool by purchasing a set of grinding tips, sometimes such tips are added to sets with screwdrivers or mini grinders. I put the wheel on it and screw it tightly. Then I mount the set on the screwdriver and start processing with tools like sandpaper, abrasive sponge and cyanoacrylate glue (see video).

Teraz wykonam ugięcie opony - chodzi o wypłaszczenie w miejscu styku z podłożem. Wykonam to wkręcając w oponę gruby wkręt, który ją rozepcha. Otwór po wkręcie zatykam drewnianym patyczkiem wklejonym klejem cyjanoakrylowym. Następnie ścieram nieco pilnikiem w miejscu styku opony z podłożem

Now I will make a deflection of the tire - it is about flattening at the point of contact with the ground. I will do this by putting a thick screw into the tire and it will push it apart. Then I rub a bit with a file at the contact point of the tire with the ground. I fill the screw hole with a wooden stick glued in with cyanoacrylate glue.

Otwory, które wywierciłem po to, żeby osadzić koła na trzpieniu są za duże, żeby można było je zamontować na osi. Dlatego muszę je wypełnić zwiniętym ciasno kawałkiem papieru nawiniętego na odpowiedniej grubości drut.

The holes I drilled to put the wheels on the mounting pins are too large to be mounted on the axle. Therefore, I have to fill them with a tightly rolled piece of paper, wound on a wire of appropriate diameter.

Następnie maluję koła, matuje je drobniutkim papierem, dodaje przetarcia bądź zabrudzenia (tutaj użyłem suchych pasteli), na końcu pokrywam je matowym lakierem i dodaje pozostałe elementy (felgi, kołpaki).

Then I paint the wheels, mat them with fine paper, add abrasions or dirt (here I used dry pastels crayons), finally I cover them with flat, clear varnish and add the remaining elements (rims, hubcaps).
