W moje ręce wpadła ostatnio wycinanka z modelem samolotu Jak-25 i namieszała mocno w moich modelarskich planach. Do niedawna był to dla mnie raczej mało znany projekt, właściwie to nawet umknęło mi, że został wydany i nie był w kręgu moich zainteresowań. Sprawcą całego tego zamieszania jest zaprzyjaźniony modelarz Sprudin, którego odwiedziłem w poprzedni weekend. Gdzieś podczas kolejnej rozmowy o samolotach pojawił się temat Jaka-25 - jaki to ładny samolot. Faktycznie, jest ładny. Potem pokazał mi tę wycinankę i powiedział, że chciałby zobaczyć ten model w moim wykonaniu. W ten sposób zostałem obdarowany modelem i zobowiązany do jego sklejenia. Wracając do domu pociągiem, całą drogę przeglądałem go wzdłuż i wszerz, w domu nałożyłem capon i oto już jestem tu. Zaczynam po długim czasie nową relację z budowy.

Recently, the Yak-25 model fell into my hands and mixed up a lot in my modelling plans. Until recently, it was a rather unknown project for me, in fact, I even didn't know that it was released and was not in my area of interest. The reason for all this confusion is a modeller friend, whom I visited last weekend. Somewhere during another conversation about airplanes and other flying things, the topic of the Yak-25 appeared - what a nice plane it is. Indeed, it's very nice, and I want to build it. Then he showed me this cutout and said that he would like to see this model in my execution. This way, I was gifted with the model and obliged to glue it together. On the way home by train, I looked all the way through it, at home I impregnated the sheets and here I am. After a long time, I am starting a new model build report.

Na początek krótkie przedstawienie wycinanki - GPM nr 546, skala oczywiście 1:33. Autorem modelu jest Evgeniy Schetinin. Model przedstawia maszynę z numerem bocznym "czerwony 03" , która obecnie znajduje się w Centralnym Muzeum Sił Lotniczych Federacji Rosyjskiej w Monino. Samolot został wyprodukowany w styczniu 1956. Podczas swojej służby spędził w powietrzu 1592 godziny i wykonał 2141 startów i lądowań. Do muzeum trafił 10 lipca 1972 (Monino Museum Moscow, Ken Duffey, str. 58, wyd. Stratus 2014). Niestety nie udało mi się ustalić w jakiej służył jednostce i gdzie stacjonował. Model mieści się na 8 kolorowych arkuszach A4 i dwóch arkuszy szkieletu dostałem do niego również zestaw laserowych wręg, kabinkę oraz laserowo wycięte detale (które są absolutnie genialne, ale o tym będzie jeszcze później).

First, a short presentation - the model was published by GPM Publishing House, (No. 546), The scale is of course 1:33. The author of the model is Evgeniy Schetinin. The model shows a machine with the side number "red 03", which is currently in the Central Air Force Museum in Monino (Russia). The aircraft was manufactured in January 1956. During its service, it spent 1,592 hours in the air and made 2,141 take-offs and landings. It was delivered to the museum on July 10, 1972. (Monino Museum Moscow, Ken Duffey, p. 58, Published by Stratus, 2014). Unfortunately, I have not been able to establish which unit it served and where it was stationed. The model contains 8 A4 sheets with coloured parts and 2 sheets with the framework. I also got a set of laser frames, a cabin and laser-cut details (which are absolutely brilliant).

Czymś co rozbawiło mnie do łez jest opis samolotu zamieszczony w wycinance. Poniżej zamieszczam zdjęcie, na którym można spróbować odczytać i odgadnąć o co tu chodzi. Trzeba czytać między wierszami. W przypływie euforii stworzyłem nawet mema na popularnym w Internecie szablonie.  Drogi wydawco, nie przyjmij tego jako coś złośliwego z mojej strony, a raczej jako dobrą radę. Pisząc zwykły post na forum sprawdzam przynajmniej raz zanim opublikuję to co napisałem. Gdybym był wydawcą i ten tekst szedłby do publikacji wydanej pod moim nazwiskiem, sprawdzałbym to kilkanaście razy.

Unfortunately, I am not able to translate this part of the post into English. It's a pity because it's quite funny, but only in Polish. The point is that the description of the aircraft in the model probably has not undergone any editing or correction. Actually, it's a random collection of words, completely pointless. The publisher clearly did not contribute to it. Reading this made me laugh, I even made a meme based on a well-known template, unfortunately, as I mentioned, it is only funny in Polish.

Mówią, że darowanemu koniowi nie zagląda się w zęby. Mimo wszystko zajrzałem. Coś czego nie widać na pierwszy rzut oka w tym modelu to różnice kolorów na arkuszach. Zobaczyłem to dopiero podczas caponowania. Na niektórych arkuszach kolor srebrny wpada bardziej w stalowy, ma jakby domieszkę niebieskiego. Na innych z kolei jest bardziej rdzawy, wpada w czerwony. Jak słusznie zauważył StuGu, te arkusze, na których znajdują się czerwone symbole (gwiazdy i numery) mają inny odcień od pozostałych. Wygląda na to, że drukarnia nie zapanowała nad kolorem i "zanieczyściła" srebrny kolor domieszką czerwieni. Nie wiem, czy to ja mam szczęście do modeli z GPM czy one wszystkie tak mają, ale często trafiają mi się takie z różnymi kolorami. Pamiętacie Mi-4? :-) W tym przypadku może nie będzie tak źle - samolot był oryginalnie w naturalnym kolorze metalu, tam każda blacha miała inny odcień. Można to tak usprawiedliwić.

They say you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Still, I looked. Something that is not visible at first glance in this model is the colour differences on the sheets. I only saw it during the impregnating. On some sheets, the silver colour falls more into the steel one, as if it has an admixture of blue. On others, it is rustier, turning red. As another friend modeller rightly pointed out, those sheets with red symbols (stars and numbers) have a different shade from the rest. It seems that the printing company has not mastered the colour and "contaminated" the silver colour with an admixture of red. I do not know if I am lucky with GPM models or if they all have it, but I often come across ones with different colours. Do you remember the Mi-4? :-) In this case, maybe it will not be so bad - the plane was originally in a natural metal colour, and each sheet had a different shade. You can justify it like that.

Poza wspomnianymi różnicami występują też niewielkie przesunięcia kolorów, ale to wszystko jest do przełknięcia.

In addition to the aforementioned differences, there are also slight colour misprints, but I can live with them.

Zgodnie z instrukcją, budowę modelu zaczynamy od elementu numer 42, którym jest tzw. wanna kabiny. Postanowiłem zostawić ją otwartą tak długo jak to możliwe, ponieważ dostęp do niej po zamknięciu będzie bardzo ograniczony. Rzeczą, która już na samym początku rzuciła mi się w oczy to to, że element 51 ma błąd. Łatwy do poprawienia, ale dający do myślenia - skoro już tutaj jest taki babol, to może warto najpierw skleić trochę poszycia i zobaczyć jak to się układa?

According to the instructions, we start building the model from element number 42, which is the so-called cockpit tub. I decided to leave it open for as long as possible as access to it after it is closed will be very limited. The thing that struck me right from the start is that part no. 51 has a bug. Easy to fix, but giving food for thought - if there is such a mistake here, maybe it's worth building a little bit of the fuselage together and seeing how it fits?

Złamałem więc nieco kolejność zaproponowaną przez autora i przeskoczyłem do elementów nr 1,2,3 tworzących ogromną, obłą osłonę radaru na nosie. Jest to krytyczny element dla wyglądu całego modelu. Autor rozrysował dość osobliwie siatkę elementu nr 2 i po dłuższych przemyśleniach postanowiłem podzielić go na trzy osobne paski poszycia. Nie mogłem wyobrazić sobie formowania tego jako jednego elementu. To była bardzo dobra decyzja, wszystko ładnie się spasowało. Następnie zabrałem się za formowanie noska z listków. Tu potrzebne było bardzo dużo BCG, metalowych kulek i cierpliwości. Na koniec, kiedy już wszystko wygłaskałem przyszła pora na retusz suchą sproszkowaną pastelą. Udało się nieco zakryć dość wyraźne i ordynarne czarne kontury listków. Niestety nie mogłem ciąć ich po wewnętrznej - pojawiłyby się szpary. Szkoda, że ten element nie został wydrukowany bez konturów. Nosek jest bardzo ładnie spasowany i wtedy wyglądałby jeszcze lepiej.

So I broke the order proposed by the author a bit and jumped over to element 1,2,3 creating a huge, oblong radar cover on the nose. This is a critical element for the appearance of the entire model. The author has drawn a rather unordinary way the element no. 2 and, after long reflection, I decided to divide it into three separate plating strips. I couldn't imagine forming it as one piece. It was a very good decision, everything turned out nicely. Then I started shaping the nose from the leaves. Here a lot of water glue, metal balls and patience were needed. Finally, when I have smoothed everything out, it is time to retouch with dry powdered pastel. The quite clear and coarse black contours of the leaves were successfully covered. Unfortunately, I couldn't cut them on the inside of the outlines - there would be gaps between them. It is a pity that this item was not printed without outlines. Still, the nose is designed very nicely.

Zmotywowany uzyskanym efektem wróciłem do rzeźbienia kabiny. Wzmocniłem sobie płytę podłogi, bo było to dla mnie za wiotkie. Zmieniłem też nieco konstrukcję tablic przyrządów - były one w formie pudełek, niepotrzebnie przekombinowane. Tak samo nie potrafię zrozumieć czym autor kierował się rysując element 61 - to miało być pudełko, ale siatka jest dziwnie rozwinięta, nie widać żadnych linii zagięć.  Zagadką były dla mnie również elementy nr 55 (podstawa drążków sterowych). W  końcu je znalazłem, są to dwie części bez przypisanego numeru.

Motivated by the result, I returned to making the cockpit. I strengthened the floor plate because it was too flaccid for me. I also changed the design of the instrument panels a bit - they were in the form of boxes, unnecessarily complicated. In the same way, I can't understand what the author thought while drawing element no. 61 - it was supposed to be a box, but in the 2D is strangely expanded, no fold lines are visible. Elements 55 (the base of the control sticks) were also a puzzle for me. I finally found them, they are two parts with no assigned number.

Tak jak  wspomniałem, dostałem razem z modelem zestaw laserowo wyciętych dodatków przeznaczonych min. do waloryzacji kabiny. Są na prawdę kapitalne i robią doskonałą robotę. Przed naklejeniem ich w odpowiednie miejsca pomalowałem je aerografem, a następnie pędzelkiem naniosłem kolory przycisków. Kabinę zamierzam i tak zrobić zamkniętą, ale nawet przez osłonkę będą przyciągały wzrok i cieszyły oko.

As I mentioned, I got a set of laser-cut accessories with the model, for example for the cockpit valorisation. They are really brilliant and doing an excellent job here. Before putting them in the right places, I painted them with an airbrush and then applied the colours of the buttons with a brush. I intend to make the cockpit closed anyway, but even though the canopy, they will be eye-catching and pleasing to see.

W tej części relacji to już wszystko, na początek wystarczy. Kabina jeszcze nie jest skończona, przede mną także budowa komór podwozia, które są dość mocno rozbudowane. Do następnego!
