Relacja / Model build - Messerschmitt Bf-110 G-4/R8 (KA1-2/19') Część IV / Part IV

Witam ponownie. Welcome back. While the cockpit is waiting for the rest of the equipment, I built the nose and several segments of the fuselage behind the cockpit. Having both of them ready before covering the cockpit with skin, I will be able to fit everything before glueing the sections together in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Let's start with a nose, here, I would like to show two things. The first one is a set of frames 54, 54a-e, besides giving the shape of the skin it is also a foundation for attaching the characteristic FuG 220 Liechtenstein radar antennas.  I used temporarily some pieces of wire inserted without glue to fit the holes in the frame and match those in the skin.

The second thing is the part 63, which is a 30 mm MK 108 cannon barrels cover applied to the upper part of the nose. It is a bit "mean", not easy to form element. I shaped it while it was wet, using a rubber, additionally metal balls and rods. The publisher decided to add a special element with fold lines for this cover. It could looks better, but I'm satisfied. The closing elements of the nose are very nicely designed, they sealed without any problems.

The glueing of five hull segments behind the cockpit was a pure formality. In this case, I did everything according to my favourite and proven method. I formed the elements according to the shape of the frames, glued the connecting strips, glued the underskin into formed elements with Butapren glue, connected the segments together with BCG (Brand Clear Glue), finally, I put the sanded properly frames into the "shell". In one of the segments on both sides, I cut out the holes and inserted small tubes inside. The inscription next to the hole is written in German and says "lift here" (hier anheben ).

In the first part of the model build, I mentioned that the paint scheme of this model is not impressive, and that there are more interesting paint schemes of Bf-110. After having glued the fuselage, I changed my mind. In addition to the fact that I start to like this camouflage, I find that the model is very friendly for retouching. Actually, only two shades of grey are needed. To be continued.
